Electoral and Competitive Authoritarianism in Ethiopia
Electoral competitiveness is a precondition to a healthy democracy. The electoral competitiveness is highly integrated with various aspects of electoral democracy such as the process of the campaign, party systems, and strategies voter effectiveness, media coverage, voters political engagement, voter turn out, voting behavior and political legitimacy which could be found from the ballot box. Competitive Authoritarianism is about the capability of ruling party to provide a democratic competition and preventing any spectrum of challenges to power (Schdler, 2006 ) Hybrid Democracy which is a mix of democracy and authoritarianism in Authoritarianism regimes (Diamond, 2002).
